Linux User & Developer is alive (again)

It seems Linux User and Developer will have another issue out soon; which, if things go to plan will have a column written by me on whether being free (as in beer) is a good thing or not for open source adoption. I suspect after the magazine has been published, I'll publish the article on here too.

Linux User & Developer "will have another issue out soon"

From across the pond (and across a continent, on top of that): I was wondering if LU&D had gone to the big magazine warehouse in the sky (it's been advertising issue 77 as "new" for months and months now). I understand that the impression was greatly exaggerated, but what is the deal? I have a hard time getting info about it from the US West Coast...

well, I'm hardly an authority on the matter

Firstly, I don't speak for LU&D, but I can say that in my conversation with Maggie on the phone the other day, she said something along the lines that subscribers purchase a number of issues - and there is no time limit on them (although some have cancelled due to a lack of issues!).

I believe things haven't gone to plan - but they have recently appointed a new editor, and perhaps this signals that a new issue will be out soon (the deadline for my column was the 15th last month, which would indicate that it should be out in the wild anytime now!).

I agree - I had thought it had gone to the great warehouse in the sky, but Maggies phone call corrected all of that. I suspect her illness isn't helping the organisation/release of the magazine.

David.
