Scandal: Broken website links and a love of Microsoft .doc files at lpi.org

After receiving my LPI.org certificate and 'credit card' the other day, it reminded me to update my registered contact details with them in case they ever decide to write to me again.

On the back of the new credit card, it said : "Members account information - http://www.lpi.org/en/members".

So, being a normal person I entered in the address in Firefox, and up came a 404 style page.

(There were also other links within an enclosed letter, which again didn't work).

Hmmph.

After browsing around their site it appears they have moved it to http://www1.lpi.org....

Fine - they say they're redeveloping their website, but why couldn't they have put in a redirect (on the server) to automatically direct people using the old url(s) to the new one(s). After all, they should be able to do this - as they have produced an exam with similar questions in it.

So, feeling kind, I emailed info@lpi.org, and suggested they do this. Here's what I had back :

Hello
\
Thank you for your email.

You are correct, we have recently updated our website and new letters are now accompanying the certificates. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I have attached a copy of the text from the new accompanying letter, so that you can get any links you require.

Regards,

The only problem being is that the attached file is a Microsoft .doc, and was sent from Thunderbird on Windows.

I know I might be ranting, and really I shouldn't care what platform someone uses - but considering their business, shouldn't they be promoting and using Linux?
