Today, I was giving a one-on-one PHP training course covering databases (we were trying to get mssql to work with PHP on Windows, but various factors seemed to conspire against us - possibly permissions related, as it seemed to refuse to allow us to select from a table that fricking well did exist.). Anyway, the amusing story was.....
We've scheduled some more PHP training courses up to June next year, running monthly.
People who are active members of Birmingham, Wolverhampton or Redditch and Bromsgrove LUGs or PHPWM can receive a discount of £25/day
See here for more details
One of the delegates on the marketing course was from a media/video production company based near Telford. In between the two sessions we had some homework, and in a round about way, I ended up emailing them pointing out that their website wouldn't be indexed by Google (and other search engines).
What's wrong with their website? It's 100% flash based and :
Pale Purple is doing a Beginners PHP training course in July at their office (near Birmingham, UK). There is a special one off discount in place, as it's the first attempt at running a scheduled course. Follow the link for details ...
After receiving my LPI.org certificate and 'credit card' the other day, it reminded me to update my registered contact details with them in case they ever decide to write to me again.
On the back of the new credit card, it said : "Members account information - http://www.lpi.org/en/members".
So, being a normal person I entered in the address in Firefox, and up came a 404 style page.
(There were also other links within an enclosed letter, which again didn't work).
In October 2006 (I think), at the Linux Expo in London, I sat my LPI level 2 exam. I think I did two modules, but can't remember (see here)
After a few months of not hearing anything from 'them' I thought perhaps I'd failed, or someone had lost something.... either way, I'd have to try again eventually.
Then, today, Chris told me the following on IRC
We've just finished providing a week long PHP training course for OpenAdvantage. We had a fully booked course, and it appeared to go very well.
We're tired.
